However, there is a supernatural/fantasy element to the story here. You see, demons snatch up chicks and try to get them to have their offspring! If you can save them, you can then add them to your ranks, kind of like a harem.

This means that you are going to have to roll your sleeves up and take care of your farmland. Growing and harvesting crops, tending to your livestock, getting resources, making various things, and such.
